Community Benefit

 

CAP's four main missions for in the Springfield Metro area are:

  1. Provide aerial patrol for law enforcement agencies, allowing for a quicker response time to in progress calls, increase officer and citizen safety involving car pursuits, and patrol sensitive areas to help in Homeland security.
  2. Assist in locating lost, missing or abducted children and work with the Amber Alert Program. Search for other missing persons believed to be in life safety situations.
  3. Aerial DWI patrol. Programs using the helicopter to identify and report drunk drivers have resulted in an 85% arrest rate. Aerial DWI patrol is more successful, requires less personal and causes less
    delays for innocent drivers than DWI check points.
  4. Drug eradication and education. Our helicopter and crew will take an active role with DARE officers in helping to keep children off drugs.
